Looking after your paintwork
Painted or varnished floors
after we leave.
Floor finishes need the longest to harden. Light use first, then build up.
Keep this page. It is what we follow on our own homes, and following it keeps your twelve month guarantee in good order.
The first few weeks
- Socks only for the first 24 hours.
- Furniture back after a week. Lift it, never drag.
- No rugs for two weeks. They trap air and stop the finish curing.
Cleaning
- Sweep or hoover often. Grit is what wears floors.
- Mop with a well wrung mop and plain water or a pH neutral floor cleaner.
Please avoid
- Steam mops.
- Soaking wet mops.
- Furniture without felt pads.
Touching up
A tired floor can usually be lightly sanded and given a fresh top coat long before it wears through.
When to check
Check doorways and in front of the sink or sofa every year. These wear first.
Something not right
Tell us and
we will come back.
If anything cracks, flakes or lifts within twelve months, send a photo and we will look at it. That is the guarantee.
