Looking after your paintwork
Walls and ceilings
after we leave.
Your walls are dry to touch within hours, but the paint keeps hardening for around two weeks. Treat it gently until then.
Keep this page. It is what we follow on our own homes, and following it keeps your twelve month guarantee in good order.
The first few weeks
- Keep the room ventilated and the heating low and steady for the first few days.
- Hang pictures and put furniture back against walls after a week, not the same day.
- Do not wash or wipe the walls for the first two weeks.
Cleaning
- Dust with a dry microfibre cloth or a soft brush attachment on the hoover.
- For marks, use a barely damp cloth with plain warm water first. Dab rather than scrub.
- If that does not shift it, a drop of washing up liquid in warm water. Rinse with a clean damp cloth.
- Matt finishes mark more easily than eggshell. Work lightly or you will polish a shiny patch.
Please avoid
- Magic erasers and scouring pads. They burnish matt paint.
- Spray cleaners with bleach or solvents.
- Blu Tack and sticky hooks for the first month.
Touching up
Keep the leftover tin with the lid hammered on, stored upside down somewhere frost free. Touch up with a small brush, feathering the edges. On matt paint, a full wall section corner to corner hides better than a dab in the middle.
When to check
Look over the rooms after six months and again before the twelve month guarantee ends. Tell us about any cracking or flaking.
Something not right
Tell us and
we will come back.
If anything cracks, flakes or lifts within twelve months, send a photo and we will look at it. That is the guarantee.
