Interior painting · St Andrews & Fife

A room finished as a whole.

A good interior is not just a new wall colour. It is the ceiling above it, the woodwork beside it and the preparation underneath. I plan those surfaces together, whether you are refreshing a bedroom or decorating a complete home.

First, understand the surface.

I check existing paint, plaster condition, staining and areas of repeated wear. Raking daylight often reveals defects that disappear under evening lighting, so the condition of the room matters as much as its dimensions. Furniture, floor protection and access are part of the quotation, not an afterthought.

Then, specify the finish.

I recommend the paint for the room and how it is used. Washable finishes can be useful in busy spaces, while a lower sheen can soften the appearance of sound walls. Physical colour samples help you judge the choice in your own light.

Leave it ready to look after.

New paint needs time to cure, not just dry. I explain when to clean the finish and leave the product, colour and sheen details so future maintenance starts with the right information.

What needs separate attention

Recurring damp, significant plaster failure or movement must be assessed before decoration. Painting over the symptom is not a repair.

Before you enquire

A few practical questions.

The right advice depends on the surface in front of us. These are useful starting points.

Can I stay at home while the work is done?

Often, yes. We agree access, usable rooms, furniture arrangements and the daily sequence before starting. Drying, ventilation and the scale of preparation can affect which spaces remain available.

Do I need to choose the paint first?

No. You can bring colour ideas, but the surface and use of the room should guide the product. I can discuss suitable finishes before the specification is agreed.

Can you include the ceiling and woodwork?

Yes. The quotation identifies each surface, its preparation and its finish. This makes it clear whether the work covers walls alone or the complete room.

A room, a piece of furniture or the outside of your home. I will help establish what it needs and set out the work in writing.
